COMING MAY 1ST 2012!

The Finale in the Kane Chronicles is coming soon from the Best selling author, Rick Riordan.

[SPOILER WARNING FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT YET READ THE THRONE OF FIRE]

In this book we will finally find out whether Apophis can be destroyed, if Ra will ever truly be himself, and of course whether or not Anubis and Sadie will ever have anything between them. Not to mention Zia and Carter! Is Bes gone forever or will he get his Ren back? And will Walt survive the curse?

This is an AMAZING cover and once again, I envy the Americans. I haven’t seen the UK cover and no doubt I will cry when I do.

APOPHIS IS GOING DOWN, DOWN, DOOOOWN!

Summary from officail website:
Marked as special at an early age, Jacinda knows her every move is watched. But she longs for freedom to make her own choices. When she breaks the most sacred tenet of her kind, she nearly pays with her life, only to be spared by a beautiful stranger sent to hunt those like her. For Jacinda is a draki–a descendant of dragons whose ability to shift into human form is her best defense.
Forced to flee into the mortal world, Jacinda struggles to adapt. The one bright light is Will. Gorgeous, elusive Will who stirs her inner draki to life. Although she is irrestibly drawn to him, Jacinda knows Will’s dark secret: He and his family are hunters. She should avoid him at all costs. But her inner draki is slowly slipping away – if it dies she will be left a human forever. She’ll do anything to prevent that. Even if it means getting closer to her most dangerous enemy.
Mythical powers and irresistible passion ignite in this story of a girl who defies all expectations and whose love crosses an ancient divide …

My rating: THREE STARS (This was tricky to rate. It had a lot of pros but maybe there could have been something more to make it special. The reader is left pretty much in the dark about the world of the Draki’s because they run away so quickly. Why is Cassian so bad?)
This was a very interesting novel, all in all. I enjoyed it and I would recommend it to my friends. It was captivating and kept me wondering. The plot line was somewhat familiar, however. I am not a big fan of the main character falling head over heels with the love interest so quickly. It just gave me a case of dejavu. It reminded me of Twilight, but perhaps it was closer to Evermore.
Ever fell in love with a guy because they had a connection that she had never experienced. She could see the auras of people around her and hear their thoughts. When she touched the guy of her dreams, everything went silent. She felt normal again.
Let’s be clear, I’m not having a go at Sophia Jordan. Just critisising. It’s funny that whilst Ever’s guy made her feel human again, Jacinda’s guy made her feel Draki again. That part was cool. I just didn’t find it believable that they could fall in love so quickly and so deeply. Then there was the whole bad boy act when he told her to stay away from her. Remind you of a certain vegeterian vampire?
There are so many books out there with characters finding out that they are a creature of myth and magic. It was refreshing to find a character who knew exactly who she was. She had a confidence that I liked. Her major downfall was that she seemed to be ‘me’ orientated. Not always. In fact, I’m suprised that she went along with her mother’s idea for so long. I have no quarrel about her knowing what she wanted but I think that there were times when she did silly things. But then, she’s only Draki. Her emotions have a big impact on her and she simply could not deny love.
The ending was marvellous too. I had not expected it to end so abruptly and I was absoloutley furious. Which is good I suppose. It’s miles better than if I had been indifferent. It shows that Jordan is good at keeping her audience hooked.
Lastly, I would just like to say that this book felt like a cross between that TV show I used to watch, American Dragon, and Twilight. Strange, I know.
If you LOOOVE fairy tales, this is the book for you…
A Kiss in Time by Alex Flinn
What did you do on your summer vacation?
Jack found a 300-year-old princess!

Talia fell under a spell…

Jack broke the curse.

I was told to beware the accursed spindle, but it was so enchanting, so hypnotic. . . .
I was looking for a little adventure the day I ditched my tour group. But finding a comatose town, with a hot-looking chick asleep in it, was so not what I had in mind.
I awakened in the same place but in another time—to a stranger’s soft kiss.
I couldn’t help kissing her. Sometimes you just have to kiss someone. I didn’t know this would happen.
Now I am in dire trouble because my father, the king, says I have brought ruin upon our country. I have no choice but to run away with this commoner!
Now I’m stuck with a bratty princess and a trunk full of her jewels. . . . The good news: My parents will freak!
Think you have dating issues? Try locking lips with a snoozing stunner who turns out to be 316 years old. Can a kiss transcend all—even time?

Read Beastly before you see the movie…

If you love all stories paranormal, this is the story for you!
When I heard about this story, I was really excited! I read the excerpt on Kiersten White’s website. The main character is a girl called Evelyn, friends call her Evie. She can see through paranormals’ glamours.
WEREWOLVES
VAMPIRES
FAERIES
She can see them all. It’s a gift that has made her very useful to the IPCA, an organisation that bags and tags paranormals to keep humans safe. But a prophecy is unlocked that could spell disaster. Not to mention that paranormals are dying all over the world.
Could it mean ‘Death, death and no release?’

My Review
This story was entertaining and funny. I love the characters and I think this could be the start of something pretty big. This book was great fun! Right amount for fantasy, mystery, action and romance! Evie is a funny, and awesome, likeable character. The plot was unexpected and the characters had a bit of depth to them. All Evie has wanted to be is normal and I’m happy with the ending. It seemed to me that there even seemed to be a bit of philosophy in here. Who has the right to take away life? This moral argument certainly gave it depth. I hope things work out for Evie but I’m sure she’ll soon realise that there is NOTHING exciting about being normal!
JUST READ THIS BOOK PEOPLE! AND WATCH OUT FOR THE SEQUEL, SUPERNATURALLY!

Calling fantasy lovers everywhere! Melissa Marr’s best-selling series, Wicked Lovely is a definite must read! It has faeries, romance and even some action.
The first book follows a girl called Asilinn who can see faeries. But the fey don’t know she can see them, and that’s the way she likes it. Otherwise they would probably blind or kill her to keep their secret.

But then a poweful faerie starts pursueing her and the rules have to change. You see, she’s always followed three specific rules her whole life.
Rule 3: Never stare at invisible faeries
Rule 2: Never speak to invisible faeries
Rule 1: Don’t ever attract their attention
But it’s too late now. She has roused the attention of a powerful faery; the Summer King. She could be the girl that he’s been waiting nine centuries for. Perhaps without her, Summer will perish.
Written in three perspectives, it is a fresh new series in the fantasy genre. One of the things I enjoy about the series is that it doesn’t just follow the same three charactes throughout. The series isn’t all about Asilinn. It’s about all the courts. For there are four faery courts:
The High Court: ruled by the Unchanging queen, Sorcha
The Dark Court: ruled by Irial
The Summer Court: ruled by Keenan
The Winter Court: ruled by Beira
*Note that these are the name of the regents in the first book. They do change. They do not however all appear in the first book
I also like that each story follows different characters. Whilst Wicked Lovely is mainly about the Summer and Winter courts, the next book is about the Dark court. Whilst I do not want to reveal too much, I can say that all the main characters are memorable. They are very different from one another and most of them have a personality. The only one that is too evil to quite feel for or even understand is Beira. Her relationship with Keenan is just strange.
Wicked Lovely is followed by Ink Exchange, Fragile Eternity, Radiant Shadows and the final novel in the series, DARKEST MERCY.

We’ve all heard of Twilight. I mean, who hasn’t? It seems that there is no getting away from choosing Team Jacob or Team Edward. And whilst the movies are pretty good, people tend to forget just how BAD the books are. Bella has NO personality and her relationship with Edward moved way too quickly. But what am I getting at here, you wonder, other than dissing Stephanie Meyer? AN ALTERNATIVE.
Yes, some of us cannot get away from our favourite blood-sucking friends but cannot endure Bella’s depressing ways. Well I advise you get a read of this:
Blue Bloods English Cover
